Here in the Great Plains of North America and in the Rocky Mountains, we stage our own version of these expeditions of discovery.  When we focus on the Canadian Prairies, we explore a vast grasslands territory as mysterious and as it is rich in heritage and traditions as any destination in the world.

The focus of this adventure tour is hiking and camping in Canada’s Rocky Mountains. Designed for those who want get off the beaten path and get into the park, the Rocky Mountain Explorer enables travellers to hike and walk some of the most scenic trails in the Canadian Rockies. Our "off the beaten path" takes us on an overnight canoe trip in Wells Gray Provincial Park. We explore six provincial and national parks and a wide variety of terrain including spectacular alpine meadows, sweeping glaciers, hanging valleys and mountain forests and streams. Arctic Explorer Tour to Northern Canada

Our destination is the hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk (Tuk), NWT, (pop. 1000) located at the uppermost edge of Canada on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. To get there, we travel the Klondike Highway, turning northward up the famous Dempster Highway, the only Canadian road to the arctic. We visit the historic gold rush town of Dawson City, YT, and the far flung, mainly aboriginal communities of Fort McPherson, Arctic Red River, Inuvik and Tuk in the Northwest Territories. Great Sand Hills Expedition into Plains Back Country Sand Dunes Environment

4 days / 3 nights

This vast ecologically sensitive area of active sand dunes ranging between 15 and 25 meters high sits in a chinook area and is subject to strong West and North West winds that keep the dunes moving by as much as 4 meters a year. Mostly encompassed by private ranch land, the sand hills sustain a large population of mule deer and also antelope, sharp tail grouse, bank swallows. Some say even cougars are at large.

 

North Island Grease Trail Tour in British Columbia

The setting for this active small group exploration of First Nation culture is the interior wilderness and far flung north-east coast of Vancouver Island. The 'Namgis people of the east coast of Vancouver Island are reopening the Grease Trail through to the west coast, home of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht people. Once used to transport ooligan, an oily fish, this ancient trade route transverses the rugged and remote interior of the North Island and crosses through the Vancouver Island Mountain Range.

Safari in Western Canada's Cypress Hills of Alberta and Saskatchewan

The Cypress Hills lie in the extreme southwest part of Saskatchewan. Although numerous coulees and valleys make the upland appear hilly, the Cypress Hills are actually a dissected plateau covering an area of about 100 square miles, three quarters of which spreads over this province. The plateau extends in an East West direction for approximately 80 miles and has a width of 15 to 25 miles. The highest parts of the Cypress Hills plateau offer a panoramic view of the surrounding plains and have the distinction of being the highest point of land between Labrador and the Rocky Mountains.
